VIP

V.I.P

The Values, Influences and Peers (VIP) - a program designed for students at the Grade 6 level was introduced in 1985. It is team taught by an educator and a Police Officer with the intent of reinforcing responsible citizenship, positive social behaviour and community values.

Each Grade 6 class in the City of Windsor has an officer assigned to assist in the presentation of the VIP program to the students. Officers volunteer to participate in the VIP program and donate the majority of the time necessary to deliver the program over the school year.

Throughout the school year, Windsor Police Officers attend grade schools to speak about their roles as Police Officers and what their job involves.

Students also receive presentations from outside organizations and field trips to local businesses.

It is a rewarding experience for both the Police Officers and the students.
