Victims of crime and their signifcant others (family and friends) go through a difficult adjustment period following a crime. Whether they have been physically hurt of had their house broken into, chances are the crime will have an impact.
 
The trauma that people experiece after being victimized is not a sign of weakness. It is a stress reaction to the loss of safety and security brought about by the crime,
