Online Police Reporting: Report a Sexual Assault 

 

​How do I report a Sexual Assault ONLINE? 

Using the online police report system allows you to submit a report immediately. Please confirm the following to find out if an online report is right for you.

  • You are not in any immediate danger, or the incident did not just occur.  
  • There is no evidence that may be lost, such as DNA (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence is not required to report a sexual assault.
  • You have a private e-mail address that the suspect does not have access to.

You should NOT file an online report if any of the following is true:

  • You are in danger - If so, call 9-1-1
  • The offence has just happened or the suspect is nearby
  • This is related to any form of personal violence including domestic assault where you are injured or require medical attention
  • Your e-mail is not secure or is shared

If you answered yes to any of these points, please call the Windsor Police non-emergency number at 519-258-6111, or attend Windsor Police Headquarters in person to have an officer take your report. If it is an emergency, please dial 9-1-1. 

 

If your incident qualifies for an online report we require the following:

  • The report must be filed by the victim, parent/guardian, or support person of the victim
  • You must have a valid e-mail address
  • You must be 16 years or older at the time of reporting

Please Note:

  • All cases filed using the Online Reporting System will be reviewed within 7 days
  • Upon review, you will be contacted by a Sexual Assault Investigator (if you have requested this when filing your report).
  • Filing a false police report is a crime.​​

Once you complete your online report the following will occur:

  • You will see the words: "Your online police report has been submitted". This indicates that your report was successfully submitted.
  • You will be given a temporary police report number.
  • You will be able to print a copy of the police report to keep for your records
  • Once processed, you will receive a permanent police report number that replaces the temporary one.
