Suspect arrested after shooting near downtown
The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 25-year-old man following a shooting near downtown.
Shortly after 3 a.m., on April 2, 2025, police responded to a report of a person with a firearm at a residence in the 1200 block of Riverside Drive East. Officers arrived on scene and located a female victim with a gunshot wound to an arm.
The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers completed a preliminary investigation and found a spent shell casing as well as damage consistent with a bullet hole within a residence. Officers also identified the suspect, who had fled the scene prior to their arrival.
Shortly before 5:30 a.m., officers located and arrested William Dessureault, 25, at a home in the 200 block of Crawford Avenue.
He has been charged with:
• Aggravated assault
• Discharging a firearm being reckless as to the life or safety of another person
• Pointing a firearm
• Failure to comply with release order
Members of the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit have taken carriage of the investigation and believe this the incident was targeted.
