Collision Reports

Important

• Before submitting your request, please refer to the information on the main Information Services page

Since April 4, 2023, the Windsor Police Service has partnered with Accident Support Services International (ASSI) to provide collision reports and driver witness statements.

The availability of collision reports through ASSI depends on the date of the collision and the applicant’s insurance provider. See below for complete details.

Requesting Collision Reports through Insurers (ASSI)

Applicants should request collision reports from their insurance company if:

  • the incident occurred after April 4, 2023, and;
  • the insurance company is an ASSI subscriber

In this case, the insurer will have access to the collision report as soon as it is complete.

Applicants will not receive reports more quickly by attending Windsor Police Service in person.

Requesting Collision Reports through Windsor Police

Applicants should request collision reports from Windsor Police if:

  • the incident occurred before April 4, 2023, or;
  • their insurance company is not an ASSI subscriber

Windsor and Amherstburg Residents

Applicants can request a collision report in-person during business hours. (Please refer to the locations and hours of operation on the main Information Services page.)

Applicants must provide two approved forms of ID with their request and pay the $60 fee by cash, debit, or Visa / Mastercard.

The receptionist will complete the request form, process the payment, and provide a receipt.

Non-Residents

If an individual cannot attend in-person due to distance, requests can be made through mail. A written request, including full details of the occurrence, is required.

A $60 certified cheque or money order, payable to the City of Windsor, must accompany the request.

Requests are not accepted via fax, as payment must accompany the request.
